What is an invoice ?

An invoice means a bill or the document sent by a provider of the service or product to the purchaser. It is the document that establishes the obligation on the part of the purchaser to pay that creates an account receivable. The name and invoice address includes personal data related to the customer and supplier. 

If you are creating the invoice, you may need the email address of the customer. It is still considered to be a good idea to get the physical address in case one requires sending the real letter or document.

The invoice number is the ID created by the seller for each delivered product or service to the customer. Some codes mentioned in the invoice number can identify the sub customer or job within the customer’s file. The invoice may include the previous document numbers related to the sale, including the sales agreement and the purchase order.
