The information gathered by websites related to pension schemes is a useful marketing material often sought after by financial sector companies. The firms are aware the enforcement agencies have a range of powers they can implement on behalf of people to stop malicious activities. 

A ban has been imposed on marketing based on cold calling, where only FCA-authorised firms are allowed. The representatives on the phone can be managers or trustees related to a personal or occupational pension. 

However, they can ring only when the recipient agrees to be convened or has a preexisting relationship. Anyone who receives an unwanted phone can report it to the ICO to stop it.

The UK's authorities penalised Parkin Breacher for illegal marketing related to pension. The firm works as a financial advisor that offers pension reviews. Multiple complaints were filed against the organisation by people. 

How To Identify Fakes?

• You are getting unsolicited messages about your pension money and related investment plans.

• You get schemes offering high returns for a small investment without much risk, like plans/schemes offered in unregulated sectors - forestry, carbon credits and overseas property.

• The plan claims to get your money early from the pension account before you attain 55.

How To Protect Yourself? 

Users should use a blocking app and set up their devices against unwanted requests to intercept bogus numbers, and if you suspect any offence, report it to the regulatory authorities.
