Jade jewellery is an antique. It’s beautiful and very elegant. This precious stone should be handled with the upmost amount of care. Consisting of Jadeite and Nephrite, Jade is an ornamental rock. Various shades can be found amongst Jade pieces.
Peace is symbolized from the blue shade of Jade. Whilst grey is a symbol of being calm. The red shade of jade symbolizes love and power whilst black gives protection.
Cleaning the precious gem is a very simple process. All that is needed is some warm water, some mild soap and a soft cloth. That is all though, adding chemicals and house hold detergents is never a good idea. Never scrub Jade, simply wipe over the gem with the cloth and dry with a separate soft cloth.
Never rinse the soap of under all the water, just slowly remove the bubbles with a cloth. For a final touch, you can polish your gems with a polishing cloth. It is vital that no one steam cleans their Jade pieces. Whether you are doing it yourself or taking it to an expert, this will cause harm immediately.
There is a different criteria to normal jewellery when it comes to Jade. The texture is very important, along with the shade and the way that the stone is cut. Of course, green is the most treasured of all, Jade comes in lavender and white also. Rather than being sold by the carat, Jade is sold by the piece, size or style.
Not everyone can shape Jade into such a beautiful collectible, it takes an extremely talented and very skilled craftsman to do such. When having a look around, make sure you look out for Jadeite that has already been treated as it can become very dull and may leak acid.
Storing Jade
Jewelry is very precious to many of us. Many people feel that keeping their pieces in the original jewelry box is the best thing to do. However, in some cases, it can actually cause more harm than good.
Always separate your jewelry pieces from the other, it is suggested that keeping it wrapped up in a soft cloth is the best way to stop scratches and movement around the box. Of course, if you are storing Silver, its best to keep it in an air tight pouch or zip lock bag to prevent it from tarnishing.
